Hey everyone!
Can you believe it? Actual blog posts? Hell must have frozen over!
I couldn't let the day go by without stopping here to wish my sweet and wonderful husband John, a very Happy Birthday!! Soooooooooo......
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY!!!
I have said it many, many times, so if you've read my blog at all over the years, you know that I think I have the world's best hubby. He is an incredibly hard worker, he supports my dreams and ambitions, and is my best friend. He is the best Daddy to Maggie, he digs right in every night when he gets home, taking the dog for a walk, and doing dishes, relieving me of babysitting duty, picking up groceries...you name it. He is so very much loved and appreciated. I hope he knows just how much I love him.
Last night I baked him his favorite Spice Cake with Butterscotch Icing, but this time we made cupcakes instead of the full cake...and my Mom helped make a yummy spaghetti dinner while I picked up balloons, and we had a little impromptu surprise celebration for him.
Here is Maggie playing with the balloons this morning after breakfast! It's the gift that keeps on giving!!
Birthdays are so fun!! I am starting to plan Maggie's big 1st Birthday Bash...if you have ideas for a cute theme that isn't "Princess," I would love to hear them. I am thinking we might do a Zoo theme or Carnival? Not sure...but I am excited to get started.
I have been so excited to be working on putting our new place together...I have finally narrowed down our purchases to some fabric, curtains, a headboard, peg rail, shelving, a full size frame and boxspring, a few rugs, a wardrobe cabinet and a butt-load of paint...and we should be good to go!!
I can officially declare (with the exception of some new throw pillows I need to sew, and some fabric to lengthen our curtains) that our living room is 92.5% finished!!! Thanks to Santa for bringing us some much needed items, and to my hubby for all his handiwork!
Here is the before:
And here is the after:
I read somewhere that putting an area rug on top of carpet was like wearing a toupee over hair...but you know what... deal with it! I rent, and that carpet is like an ocean of boring. It needed something, and that rug was free and it matched. :D
The painting over the fireplace is a Jennifer Pebbles original knock-off of a Jenny Nelson painting. I ***looove*** Jenny Nelson and this is not the first painting of her's I have painted for my home. I have more, I will share those soon.
The curtains are too short, they didn't have the length I wanted, so I am going to get another panel and add on to the bottom, or I might add some fun print fabric...haven't decided that yet. These are some of the fabrics I am thinking of for the pillows and stuff:
There is also a master toy plan in the space that is currently half developed...there is this half:
(where we hide her toys)
...and the other half is the little play area/toy runway which is going to be behind this couch...I just need to get a little play mat or something for that area.
Anywhoozy, I was so happy the other day to look around and declare one room done, that I had to take some photos and share. I will be even happier when the rest of this floor is done and I can have people over! :D
So that's that! A blog post! It's just like riding a bike.
:D
